A few items of housekeeping note.
- I will post relevant news, practice schedules, etc. on the Lander Strikers website. My contact information is also there. This email (with slight modification) will also reside there under the tab “News”. Clicking on the “U12 Boys” category filter will bring up only posts relevant to U12 Boys. - Coach Dave Peshio and I will be the U12 Boys co-coaches. For league purposes, I’m listed as a primary contact, however, Dave will be equally involved in coaching the team this season. I appreciate his time, dedication and thoughtfulness to this activity; his frequent feedback and advice to me, and; your player will appreciate his patient and more gentle nature (which is infinite in comparison with mine). It’s a good cop/bad cop thing.
- Practice Schedule: First practice will be Tuesday, March 24th from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. We’ll be at the high school field in the back of LVHS (where we practiced last season). From that point forward, practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at that time, and I’ll try to get as many Saturday morning practices as I can get in. Regarding Saturday morning practices: I understand weekends aren’t easy for familys and I understand priorities, so they’re *not* mandatory. If you can make it, great, if not, no harm done. They’ll be one more day of touching the ball, and they’ll generally be light, as the next day we’ll typically have games. FIRST ITEM THAT I’D LIKE YOUR FEEDBACK ON: Will your player be able to make practices scheduled during Spring Break (April 6 - 10)?
- As you know, we have three league weekends (beginning with Sunday April 19th), and 2 tournament weekends. The Casper Soccer Club is hosting a one-day Soccer Jamboree format (no wins and losses tracked…simply a warm-up for the season) that has 4 shortened games played by each team on a single day (http://www.cyslonline.com/tournaments.html). That’s April 18th, the day before our first league game. The cost to register our team is $150. If we all go, it would cost us ~$10 - $15 per player, as Strikers provides for 3 league weekends and 2 tournaments. It’s as inexpensive as soccer gets and it’s a fun day of soccer that’s relatively close. The U14 team is going, and I wanted to understand from you if your player can commit to that. If we get 9 of our 13 committed, I will sign us up. Again…completely voluntary. Further, I will contact the league to try to get our Sunday games scheduled either for Casper or Lander (easier on the driving)…but, there are no guarantees that they’ll be able to do that for us. SO, THE SECOND THING I’LL NEED YOUR FEEDBACK ON: Can your player join us for the Casper Jamboree?
- Have I reminded players to juggle a soccer ball in their spare time? Once the homework is done, room cleaned and the AR point goals are reached…JUGGLE! ;-)
