The final league weekend of the season was played in Casper. Two very good teams from Cheyenne showed the Strikers how far they’ve come and what the end of the rainbow still holds for them. They gained a victory against Cheyenne’s developmental squad (Cheyenne 2) 6 - 1 and lost to a very good Cheyenne 1 team 1 - 5.
Strikers Coach commented, “Watching that first game made us realize how far we’d come this year. The passing, dribbling, shooting and postioning were all there. In the second game, we saw a very well coached and older group put together a defensive and offensive effort that we hadn’t seen the match for this season. It was nice to see how good a team can be, so that we have a goal to chase.”
Caleb was named the Fall 2006 Seasons’ Most Valuable Player (MVP) for on-field hustle and domination of attacking forwards. “Caleb allowed us to use formations that we wouldn’t otherwise use had he not been in the game. Formations that allowed us to attack with more confidence knowing that our defense could stop any breakaway counter attacks,” reported Strikers coaches.
It was a wonderful Fall season for the Strikers. The team should brim with pride and look forward to the Spring, when they can again take part in “The Beautiful Game”.
